Tuesday

I was in one of my favourite, dingiest and filthiest second hand shops one day last year and I found a big glass spoon.  Possibly vintage, but it's oh so hard to tell these days so I won't put it under my blog labels as vintage.

The sales assistant mentioned that there was supposed to be a matching fork with it, so we both hunted around looking for it, but to no avail.
I was disappointed, but I still bought the spoon for $1.  I'm now on the hunt to find it's long lost partner.... the fork!  Other second hand stores, op shops, and Ebay has been no help so far, but that won't stop me from looking because after all, I've been very lucky in the past with finding particular things.

But until then, here's to eating some yummy ice cream the oh so fancy way.  :)

Monday

Monday, Monday.... so good to me.....  NOT.

I dislike Mondays for no apparent reason.  Maybe it's society that has brainwashed me to think like that!

A boring assortment of free stuff today.  I'm guessing you can tell that I'm running out of interesting things to show you?

Thurday

Black.  Black is a shocking colour to photograph and I'm sure I've expressed my disgust before.  There is no way you can clean something black, every speck of dust clings like an entity! Funny how that you can hardly see the dust in real life.  But as they say, the camera never lies.

Free black pot and 2 cups.  Not really a set because I found them at separate times so they should all be square or round if they were a family.  Dead give away, right?

Thursday

It seems like these adorable plaques are made out of plaster or something similar, I'm really loving the crackling effect and they are self hangable - what's not to love?

I saw them, I liked them, I bought them.  The good thing was that I didn't realise it was half price day at the op shop, so I ended up paying $2 each for them.  I've yet to find a spot for hanging.... maybe the bathroom or maybe the corridor... I simply can't decide.

Tuesday

A little sweet cabinet found for free.  Absolutely nothing was wrong with it - apart for those odd mismatching handles.  I did replace them with two of the same eventually.  I keep my little crafty bits and pieces in it - just perfect!

Free Childcraft books from the 1970's or 1980's.  I did see more of these (possibly the whole set) in the junk pile, but they were water damaged due to the fact that it had been lightly raining a few days before hand.  Oh well, four are better than none, right?

And lastly for today.... A free old top, turned into cute art.   As you can see, the top was stretched, a little faded and too ugly to wear so I salvaged and saved poor Winnie the Pooh in a frame.  How cute is that?

Monday

I found two Peter Rabbit egg cups, both at different times / op shops, and both for $1.  Notice the differences?  But of course I love them both just the way they are.  :)

Now, I don't know much about copy right and trade marks etc. and I AM a little confused.  One of the egg cups is the real deal (Frederick Warne & Co.) and one is a fake (Made in China).  But both have 'tm' written after the name.  If an image/character is clearly copy right, then how can there be a fake and how do they get away with making and selling it?  Just curious is all, as they say in the U.S.  ;)

The only thing I can see that would make it different enough is the colour change.  Is that really enough though to rip somebody else's original idea?

Well you may not find it so interesting, but obviously I do!
