Sweet 'Koma' dome clock found for $3.  AND it works.  :)

How cool is this cotton fabric??  It's approximately 2m x 1m, which is a substantial amount.  I only paid $2 - clever me.

 

Hong Kong spoon found for $1.

Lovely bamboo coat hangers for only 50 cents each, found last year.  I never thought I'd say this about hangers, but they were worth every cent - I love them... as simple as they are.

Free, free, free!  Everything should be free.  Donchathink? LOL!

Beautiful sheer pink fabric.  This lovely thing had a small hole near one of the edges so I neatly cut off a couple of inches on that end and hey presto - as good as new. 

 

My niece and I ended finding two of these tea light holder lanterns in so-so condition... so thankfully we didn't fighter over just one.  I ended up spray painting mine with chrome paint.  ;)  

I saw them a few months later at Ikea for $5. 

Have a Christmas drink in one of these!  Not a chip or crack found on this glass.

Lastly, about those egg cups I was talking about yesterday...

I remember my dear mother would on occasions serve me a soft boiled eggs in egg cups - I 'vaguely' remember the ones below in the photo specifically.  As I grew older, the egg cups came out less and less until I saw them no more, then one day earlier this year my mother gave them to me (or rather, I found them hiding in a cupboard she had asked me to clean out a little and I SQUEEED and mentioned that I collect egg cups now!).  

You may see a set of 6, but that's not how it was when she passed them on to me.   A few months before they were given to me, my niece and I were browsing in an op shop.  She found one egg cup just like those!  BUT, when she found it my eyes glazed over a tad and I was trying to think where I'd seen that design before.  Oh dear!  How on earth could I forget that lovely little design?  So when mine were passed onto me, I finally remembered THAT design.

I then nearly begged my niece to pass the one she had found onto me to complete my set - and she graciously did and I'll be forever grateful for that.  I promised her that if I ever find another, she'll get hers back. :)  Now if you look very carefully -clicky-clicky on the photo-, I bet you can figure out which one it is.  Simply because (sometimes) details from one particular set will not always be the same as another.

When freinds care...

A friend of mine (yes you know who you are!) went to Bali on a whim with her partner a few months back.  How exhilarating would it be to be able to just pack up your bags and leave for somewhere exotic with not a care in the world?  Well, it wasn't totally like that- but hey if somebody can go away for a week or two and still have responsibilities back home waiting, then why not?  They also went to Pemberton and she bought me gifts from both places.  What a sweetheart ...

Some beautiful purple batik fabric from Bali, because she knows it's my favourite colour....

And a spoon and thimble set from Pemberton, because she knows I collect both....

She also kindly passed on some spoons her mother no longer wanted.  Stay tuned for those!

Free fabric & sewing supplies

Yes, I can even get sewing supplies along with fabric at absolutely no cost.  Free! Free! Freeeeee!

People just toss out the oddest things.  By odd, I mean... why can't you pass it onto a friend? Or a family member instead of throwing it away?

Not something I'd make for myself, but the pants might be good...

My sewing skills are basic - intermediate.  I can fix hems, I can sort of follow a garment pattern (as long as it's easy), I can make button holes and with some difficulties, I can manage to sew in a zipper.... but not without a bit of cursing.

Woman's Weekly knitting magazine from the 1980's and believe me, I wouldn't have grabbed it if it didn't have at least a couple of cute designs in there.  The sweaters on the front cover are NOT one of the cute favourites:

Finally, I don't know how large this beautiful piece of fabric is (possibly 2 x 2 metres-ish and is thick enough for what I need it for), but I know it's way more than enough for a project I'm trying to finish:  

Crafting

I think I'm a crafty person.  I knit a lot, I try sewing but I know I'm not that great at it and I love to revamp a multitude of old things.  In the last few years I had been collecting crafty things, that is...  bits and pieces and junk that will help me transform things into something cuter than what it is.

Everything I've collected for the jobs is mostly in a cardboard box just waiting to explode out and be used.  I never seem to find the time to just sit down, breathe in and out, take out a project and just do it.  When I try, I frustratingly get half way and it ends up just sitting somewhere for weeks on end.
For once I'd like to just start and finish something in the one day.  I think I'm asking for too much.

A few things I've found at op shops and on peoples junk piles to help me with my future projects;

These little wooden feet were $1 each.  As soon as I saw them I knew what my project was 

going to be.  I have just about everything I need but I until I find a couple of things, these will 

have to sit and wait.

 $1 paint brush - an essential for crafting!

All of this fabric was $12, but there is a heap of it.  It's actually curtain material, but the plan is 

to make cushions for a couple of free cane chairs I picked up from the next door neighbours 

junk pile.  Thankfully their pile was close to our own council strip and it's unlikely they saw me.  

Then again, who cares if they did. 

Unopened contact plastic - free and on my dirty rug.  It guess it can come in handy.

Red crepe paper - free.  I'm thinking cute poppy flowers.

Jute bag with wooden handles - free.  The jute ended up being cut up for something I needed, 

and the handles are perfect for a knitting handbag project.  Sweet!

Broken mosaic mirror - free.  It's a shame it was cracked, othewise I would have 

used it in the bathroom.  The plan is to take off all the little glass bits and keep them 

for another mosaic project.

Lastly, a bunch of pens/pencils/paint/various stuff - free!
