The last few days have been very uncomfortable.  The humidity (and heat) has been overwhelming for me and I'm one of those people that doesn't handle it very well.

Although be it my imagination or not, I don't think we've quite had the usual amount of hot days here in W.A. this summer... but then again summer ain't over so there is still time for more heat to hit us.  

Blah, yuk and BLAH to summer and please bring on winter!

A freebie found last year; small round cane table.  I'm only guessing it's a table and not a sitting stool because I know the top certainly couldn't handle any body weight all that well.  

I quite like all the cane furniture I've found in the past, as cheap as it looks.  One of those thin pieces at the bottom was broken off, but resourceful me always keeps certain bits and pieces on hand and I just happened to have an exact piece of thin cane and fixed her right up.  Can you see it?  Of course not - because I did an excellent job.   And it's not the part where 'you think' it is.  lol.  I've been using it for a few months as a plant stand out on the patio and it's still holding up very well, so I must have done something right. ;)

Monday, Monday.... so good to me.....  NOT.  

I dislike Mondays for no apparent reason.  Maybe it's society that has brainwashed me to think like that!

Dear fellow free pickers, junk collectors, op shop finders and all other sorts of thrifty people,

It's finally come to that crucial point.  I've less to show you these days, yes that's right!  This past year or so I had been showing you all the cool stuff that I had accumulated these past few years (some much older) and now that I've been 'collecting' less because of lack of space for it all in and outside of my home, I'll have to blog less than usual.  

But don't fret my fellow trashies and treasure finders, because there will be a time in the near future when I'll gather more.  But in the meantime...

A good assortment of freebies found:

Magazines passed onto dear hubby.

No attachments with this Kodak camera where found, but easy enough to find.

Tee shirt in new condition.  Not my style, but for some unknown reason I'm holding on to it for now.  The sleeves are a little tight and it has an odd fit.  Maybe that's why they trashed it.

Are you looking at me, punk?

 It's plastic and I love it.  My mother has one just like it and I like to think that I found it's twin.  I might change the plant to something more lush to hide the ugly brown pot inside though.

Simply 'a fish'.  Wooden and golden and ready to hang somewhere, like in my car.

Ho-hum post ahead; miscellaneous boring freebies found;

This Milano brand bag is in fantabulous condition and is hardly used.  I've lots to store in it and believe me it's much bigger than what it looks in the photos.

Extra boring.... *yawn*.  The ugly is also very useful.  All my terracotta pots have terracotta saucers now.

Extra EXTRA boring but I promise it's the last for today.  This is only a very small portion of what I've found in the past few years.  

Large rug.... in beautiful condition.

Coloured buttons!  Who doesn't need buttons?  Oh please, we all need buttons at some stage.

Free stuff ready to be revamped always excites me.   I love making things look nicer, newer, a little different etc., so these are going to be fun revamping jobs when I have a little spare time this weekend and more weekends after that....

Obviously somebody thought these teal light holders were trash worthy, but not me.  The difficult part is choosing a lovely new colour for them;

I found this table dismantled and squeeeee'd for joy when I saw it, because I had been wondering where to find one for a mosaic project;

 This lovely little cane table was going to be painted, but then I changed my mind.  I think it's more charming if I leave it as is.  There was a broken piece at the bottom when I pick it up, but I fixed it right up with some creativity, knowledge and nearby supplies and it's blended in so well, I bet you can't see it;

 

It rubs the lotion on its skin...

JG: It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it's told. 

CM: Mister... my family will pay cash. Whatever ransom you're askin' for, they'll pay it. 

JG: It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. JG: Yes it will, Precious, it will get the hose!

CM: Okay... okay... okay. Mister, if you let me go, I won't - I won't press charges I promise. See, my mom is a real important woman... I guess you already know that.  

JG: Now it places the lotion in the basket. 

CM: Please! Please I wanna go home! I wanna go home please! JG: It places the lotion in the basket.
CM: I wanna see my mommy! Please I wanna see my... I want...

JG: Put the f*****g lotion in the basket! 

CM: AAAAAHHHHHH!  AAAAHHHHHHH! AAAAAHHHHHH.

JG:  AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

I found this sweet wind spinner a couple of months back and every time I glance out of the kitchen window, my mind automatically goes to that movie scene.  Foul to some, funny to others, hilarious to me. 

Cost for a wooden wind spinner and a good chuckle?:  Free.

Note to self - fix so it look more twisted (like Buffalo Bill, tee-hee)!

Random free stuff

Here are some good examples of how one persons junk is another persons treasure.  They look unexciting now, but I have plans to pretty them up in the not so distant future;

 I see a little decorating on the horizon and I know exactly what to do with these and it gets me in a frenzy when I think about how cute they (might) be...

And this plastic flower pot has potential.  You don't need to be an expert to know what I plan to do with this...

 

These poor little tables have seen better days, and it looks like it used to be a nest of 3, minus the baby...

I love this cane/wicker coffee table, but to have a new glass top custom made would cost a small fortune I'm sure, so I'm thinking maybe use a plank of thick wood, but I'm not really sure yet...

And lastly, two Ikea light shades.  How kitsch are these?

The guts look interestingly simple (lol)... 

I'm still wondering and pondering about the fate of these light shades, so who knows what will become of them.  I guess you will have to stay tuned.  ;)

Some freebies

Practical stuff is what I like to find for free the best, for obvious reasons.

I use this to store balls of yarn;

Was ripped, but easily fixed with basic sewing skills!

 

Terracotta pots are so much nicer than plastic... and it's amazing how many I find being tossed away... including heaps of terracotta saucers;

I do like the shabbiness of this stool, but I do plan to strip the remaining old paint and varnish it.

This photo was taken just after Christmas and since then, it's been well weathered so it's going to be a breeze to tidy her up.  The hanging baskets have liners and plants in them now, and I've found quite a few of those;
