 An assortment of things found at the op shop;

The tag had $7 on this 'must have' sweater, but I got it down to $5 simply because I showed the lady at the counter a couple of pulled threads.  When I got it home, I pulled in the threads with a fine crochet hook - looks as good as new!  Remember this tip when you are looking at sweaters.  ;)

This is one of those things that left me stumped as to why I bought it.  Possibly because it came in it's own cute metal tin?  Maybe because the husbeast is into everything that has to do with car racing??  Maybe it was both.  I snapped it up for $4.  I rarely see metal toy cars at the op shop... they are usually all plastic and almost destroyed by its previous (child) owner.

 

I did some research on this gold spoon some time ago, and I did find some on eBay going for some astronomical price, and some cheaper.  I'm guessing the cheaper ones are/were replicas, but I really don't know what category my falls under.  I like to think that I scored one worth a mint.  LOL.  I paid 50 cents for this elegant spoon.

And finally, I just had to have these very sweet marble ducks.  At least I think they are marble... and if not, they are polished rock.  Found these for $1 each.  They measure about 2 inches across.  :)

Today is a great day to show off my thimble collection.  Out of all my collections, this would have to be my favourite.  How could anybody not like thimbles?  They are simply adorable IMHO and I squeeee every time I find them... which isn't often these days.  I have fine porcelain, fine bone china, ceramic, metal (brass?  silver?  who knows?) and one plastic or at least I think it is.  I have found a lot of them for 50 cents each, some for $1 & $2 each and the most I've ever paid for one is $5 (the blue with gold flower which is gorgeous in real life) - and it was a must have!

Thursday

Free stuff ready to be revamped always excites me.   I love making things look nicer, newer, a little different etc., so these are going to be fun revamping jobs when I have a little spare time this weekend and more weekends after that....

Obviously somebody thought these teal light holders were trash worthy, but not me.  The difficult part is choosing a lovely new colour for them;

I found this table dismantled and squeeeee'd for joy when I saw it, because I had been wondering where to find one for a mosaic project;

 This lovely little cane table was going to be painted, but then I changed my mind.  I think it's more charming if I leave it as is.  There was a broken piece at the bottom when I pick it up, but I fixed it right up with some creativity, knowledge and nearby supplies and it's blended in so well, I bet you can't see it;

 

A good free find...

When I picked this up from a junk pile recently, I thought it was a plant holder.  Then my niece corrected me - it's a pet dish holder.  What a queenly or princely way to eat pet food.... I love it!

When I was a little girl...

My mother gifted me this cute little metal sewing machine when I was little... I'd say nearly 40 years ago.   I remember absolutely loving it!   It did have a sticker with the name on it once upon a time and that would have been ideal to help with finding out more, but unfortunately I can't find anything online.

It stands about about 15 cms high and it's battery operated but I don't know if it would still work.  I guess I could throw in a battery to check.  I'll put that on my VERY LOOONNGGGG list of things to do.  

Believe it or not, I used to sew little pieces of fabric together and remember trying very hard to make a dress for a doll... it seems very funny to me now.  And no, I did not succeed with sewing the doll's dress.

I found this lovely oil painting for $1.  Signature says E. Williams.

The black metal plate stand was also $1.  I'll eventually pop it into a frame and hang it up somewhere because I find the front of the stand a little distracting.  And of course to keep the price down, I shall look for an appropriate frame at the op shop!

The sweet things.

5 pairs of metal clasps, 70 cents each, 1 inch in length.  How sweet are these?  I think I will use them on my next knitting project.  I love finding little treasures from at local op shop.
