She sells....

... seashells, by the seashore.

But I didn't buy these.  I found them in somebody's junk heap!  Yes, I do collect shells but haven't been to a beach for a long time so I guess this is the next best way of finding them.

salt 'n' pepa!

I scored these for 60 cents each.  They are glass and metal salt and pepper shakers and I think they are adorable.

They are the cutest things.... and I just had to know more about them when I arrived home.

It didn't take me very long to find out that this is what they originally looked like;

So now I'm on the hunt for a tree to hang them on.  I've no idea if mine are vintage or not... and the reason why I think this is because the lady at the op shop said she owned one from the 1970's!
Look at mine and look at the last photo.  Spot the difference?

Are you my biggest vintage fan?

My mother passed on an old fan last year, which I adore.  We are talking 1960's here and all the way from Italy.  I thought I'd show you this fan, simply because I was born in the mid 60's and it just happens to be my birthday today.  Happy Birthday to me.

Whilst writing up this blog entry, I went to see what was written on the top base of the fan but I had to reach up to grab it from the top of the book case.  I had forgotten I had a glass light shade  behind it, so when I pulled the fan, the light shade came roaring down and smashed yet another standing light shade with a glass cover.  Funnily, the first light shade wasn't hurt at all.
Oy vey.  I can't believe it.

So what WAS written on the top base of the fan after all that?  Nothing.  Just 0, 1, 2 for the settings.
Oy vey, yet again.

You can never have too many of them...

Drinking glasses, that is.

I have weaker wrists than usual and I think it's due to having my carpal tunnel released in both hands several years ago.  I can still grip fine, but over all they do feel a little weaker.

It's not like I break something everyday and I'm quite good with being veeeerryyyy caaaarrreefulll.  But in the last few months, I've broken a cup, a small plate and a bottle I loved.  Oh well.  It's a good thing I can either get them very cheap or for free.

I love my 4 Coke glasses.  I found them individually - two were 50 cents, one was $1 and the last was $1.99.

The colour of these makes them so unique and I adore them.  The box of 6 was $10.  I've not used them yet because I'm simply too frightened to break them!

 Weeks later and at a different op shop, I found the matching liquor glasses at $1 each!

Looking and smelling good for free

How do you know when somebody has gone a little nuts?  They throw out their skin care, make up and perfume!

This was one of those jaw dropping incidences... I grabbed a bag full of 'stuff' somebody was tossing and when I had a look at the contents in the privacy of my own home - it simply amazed me.  Oh and when I say bag, I mean a not so bad looking hand bag.  It had a broken zip, but that was easily fixed.

Maybe this poor lady was having a bad boyfriend or husband day and tossed it out in a fit of rage, or she simply gave up looking good and smelling nice.  hehe.

The bag after washing.  Not a rip, nor a scratch on it;

The skin care, some still sealed, some opened;

Although it's a little powdery inside, this eyeshadow is unused - love the colours!

These are all sealed, and there is a Nutrimetics soap in there which I can't find the heart to open;

And the mini perfume.  I used White Linen in the 1980's, and it does bring back nostalgic memories for me.   I had forgotten how fresh, crisp and clean it smells.

Never in a hundred years did I think I'd find a an Avon product. (still with talc still inside!) This one's from the early 1980's;

Amongst all that, I found a couple of old shoes (YES I did throw them in the bin), an ink pad and a turtle rubber stamp, a metal butterfly ring and a couple of empty perfume bottles which I forgot to photograph.

Bunnies!

I love collecting bunny ornaments and egg cups, as some of you already know!

My latest finds are firstly this adorable ceramic white rabbit for only $1.

And a lovely white rabbit egg cup, also for $1.

Free copper pot

Before cleaning.

After cleaning.

 All I need now is a metal chain to hang it up..... so it looks just like the one below which was $1 (minus the plant).
